CCS Service Arrays: Individual & Family Psychoeducation, and ISDE CLTS: Training for Unpaid Caregiver/Family

Certified Parent Peer Specialist

Michelle is the owner and director of Rocky Hill.  She has a wide range of lived experience.  She is a suicide loss survivor.  She and her husband were the caregivers of children who experienced trauma, were diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder, attended day treatment, experienced suicidal ideation, had voluntary hospitalizations, were involved with juvenile justice, were admitted to residential treatment, participated in substance use, were diagnosed with PTSD, and had a list of other diagnosis.  Michelle has experienced depression and anxiety herself and learned to manage it.

Michelle was a teacher for 17 years.  She taught biology, health, special education transition and students with emotional and behavioral disabilities.  Michelle helped her sister through her struggles with mental illness and domestic violence, which ultimately lead to her sister's suicide in 2016.  Later in 2016, Michelle and her husband obtained guardianship of a family member's two girls who, they later learned, had experienced more trauma than they knew. Despite their best efforts both girls eventually went to other placements.

Michelle now uses her education, personal, and family experience to support families who struggle with mental illness and substance use.

Michelle, her husband, and their three boys live in River Falls, WI on a small hobby farm where they enjoy the outdoors, hockey, and church activities.
