My name is Amy DeBroux, I’m a Parent Peer Specialist and mother of two young adult children. I have a Bachelor’s Degree from UW-Oshkosh in Elementary Education and am also a Certified English Language Learner teacher. I’ve had ten combined years of teaching experience in New Milford, CT, Kaukauna and Appleton, WI. I’ve worked with children in Kindergarten through sixth grade. For the last five years I have been a Parent Peer Advocate through NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness) Fox Valley. I provided support for parents in the Menasha and Little Chute School Districts, including direct support with IEP’s etc.. I bring my experience as a teacher and a parent of children with mental health challenges.

PARENT PEER ADVOCATE (PPA) EXPERIENCE
Parent Peer Advocate – NAMI Fox Valley – Appleton, Wisconsin 2018 – Present
· Provided PPA Services for Little Chute Area School District and Menasha Joint School District
· Connected with 65 families in the 2022-2023 school year
· Coordinated care with Pupil Services Team members in both districts
· Advocated for parents/caregivers at Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings
· Provided Outreach information during school open houses and parent-teacher conferences
· Collaborated with Pupil Services Director and Mental Health Coordinator to reach families and to educate staff regarding PPA services
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Long-term ELL Substitute –Appleton, Wisconsin (Spring/Fall 2010) K-6
· Provided Leveled Literacy Instruction for English Language Learners including Newcomer students first through sixth grade
· Developed and taught ELL core curriculum to Newcomer/ELL’s for kindergarten through sixth grade
· Co-taught first and third grade Writers’ Workshop based on Lucy Calkin’s model
· Facilitated MAPS testing for ELL and Newcomer students
